HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

It's been a long, difficult year. There were some days where I just felt like my problems were killing me. I am so happy that this year is finally ending!!

To celebrate the end of 2012, I wanted to do something really, really special and rare..... *drum roll* a self-portrait painting! As a zombie!!

This painting surprisingly did not take me long to do. Maybe just a few hours? I didn't actually time it, but it seemed to go by much faster then some of my other paintings... but that happens from time to time when i get a really good idea to inspire me.

It is rare for me to do a painting, but it is even rarer that I do a self portrait. The only other time I've drawn myself is 18 years ago in my very first official art class! I didn't like drawing myself, and like I've said recently... I have a weakness when it comes to likeness.... so after the first horrible attempt, I never tried it again until now. This painting actually turned out pretty nice. the likeness is pretty close. There are a few errors here and there with my mixing and blending of colors... but I'm happy with it.

Like I said earlier... this year left me feeling pretty dead.
