Warning::: lots of ahead... sorry you don't have to read it

ok, before i about the characters and the book.... this was a test picture, worked on some newer ways to coloring to try and come up with a quicker/nicer way of getting the shading done. it is my first picture with more then 3 layers... i can't remember how many i ended up with o.< i was too lazy to count... let's just leave it at a lot. it is also the first picture that i used some different paintbrushes then my normal default brush, plus paintbrush mode of overlay with an opacity between 50- 70% each character was drawn on a seperate piece of paper with sharpie. tweaked and colored in photoshop ^.^ the moon is actually made out of a rock...wall...texture thing found here -> [link] i knew that as soon as i saw it, it would be the PERFECT moon surface... shattered.

on one hand i'm really proud of how this came out and in such a short amount of time... on the other hand... i don't like it *gonk*

now... about the people in the picture and the title...

Cabinet of Curiosities is a book by Preston and Child. i didn't make any of the character (yeah, you all know the fanart drill ). this is the way i pictured them during and after reading that book. ironic part is that this isn't even my fave book out of the pendergast series (not even sure if it's my second fave. >.>;; ), but for some reason... i just had to draw some fanart for it. *shrug*

the blonde guy is Special Agent Pendergast. yay! Pendergast i made him way to young... which, i didn't mean to... before i knew it, the picture was done and he looked young... i didn't really want to go back and fix it. this is only the second pic i've ever drawn of Pendergast. the first one was after i was first introduced to the character in Still Life With Crows (which was actually book 4 but i didn't realize that it was an series sort of thing *gonk* ). after reading many more books with him in it, i felt like i had a better idea of what he looked like.

the lady is Nora Kelly. i always pictured her in the book with a pony tail, but, she was described in the book with her hair hanging down. ^.^ she is a "i don't take crap from you unless you are my boss" sort of archaeologist... so, i gave her a slight... disheveled look. o.<

the next guy is William Smithback Jr. he is a sneaky reporter... who, on more then one occasion, has gone out of his way to get the scoop only to end up in some serious trouble. *cough* he's not one of my more fave. characters... he doesn't handle trouble well ^.^

the NYPD officer is one Patrick M. O'Shaughnessy. aside from Pendergast, O'Shaughnessy was my next fave. character in this book. he had a great "fuck you" sort of attitude through out pretty much all of the book. i actually don't recall that much of a physical description of his hair or face... but, the image i had in mind through the whole book was the actor Colm Meaney -> [link] the actor (in pretty much every role he has had) has that same attitude mixed with same sort of sarcastic humor. so, i based the picture of O'Shaughnessy off of Colm. *shrug*

now, for the last character....the killer. i really debated about him... should i draw the image that was in mind through out the majority of the book? or should i draw him the way he appears towards the end of the book. or should i draw the killer as he appears after the big twist at the end... i went back and forth on that a LOT. finally, i decided not to draw him the way he appears at the end of the book or after the twist because it would give too much of a spoiler and i didn't want that to happen ^.^; so, this is the oldfashioned "Enoch Leng" i pictured through about 350 pages of the book. o.<

i know you guys are probably really bored right now if you read all of that... but, i just felt like i had to kind of introduce the characters to you. i promise i'm stopping now ^.^
